Or when you cannot access other programs? “Why does my computer keeps freezing?” You will be left with this question in your head and you will end up jumping into conclusion that your computer needs reformatting. A computer freezes up from time to time especially when there is unwanted information in the registry or when your computer becomes overheated. Tip # 1: Try running the Task Manager

“My computer keeps freezing and the program I’m using is not responding.” Don’t worry, the very helpful three finger salute can sometimes do the trick. Running the task manager by pressing Control-Alt-Delete can end the program that is not responding and can fix a stalled computer.

Tip # 2: Repair the Windows Registry

Personally, my computer keeps freezing in the past and I have discovered that the problem is coming from my windows registry. The registry contains the information that runs all the software and hardware and it is the most important and fragile area of a computer. The registry becomes filled with unwanted information every time you perform an installation or an update, thus, leaving your computer operate slowly and sometimes freeze up.

My computer keeps freezing then until I decided to repair my windows registry. I recommend that you use a program that can clean up the registry errors so that to avoid damaging completely your windows registry because it is such a fragile area of a computer.

Tip # 3: Close applications

“My computer keeps freezing every time I open many applications…” Well, that’s kind of obvious right there. Close other applications that you don’t really need at the moment. A Computer freezes up when too many programs are running at the same time so try to limit running only two applications that you only need the most.

Tip # 4: Check for malwares

Viruses, worms, spywares and trojans are called malwares and that they can give you serious problems by corrupting your files and by affecting the performance of your system. Other computers get infected by malwares and the users were left with no choice but to reformat their systems. My computer keeps freezing when there is a malware hiding around in my system. From experience, I advice that you purchase a reliable Antivirus Software and an Anti-spyware and have a regular scheduled malware scan on your computer. Don’t forget to update your Antivirus software daily and that to make sure that all security software are in great shape.

Having your computer to perform in a high quality standard is a must to speed your work, and to refrain stress when you’re having fun playing games. But when your computer hangs up, you don’t need to worry and rush to reformatting anymore. “My computer keeps freezing up…, should i reformat my system?”, I think you already know what to do. Good luck!

    Defragment your drive regularly.

Check how many programs you have running on startup, to many will slow down pc.

Then download and use these programs for security.

Do full scans first time then run them every so often.

your local sbdc or community development office can offer individualized help.
have you developed a business plan?
    What are your financing options?
Have you defined where to get parts and tools?
What are the demographics of your customers- individuals or businesses?
does your business have a name? make up some cards and post them around town. many libraries, stores and gas stations provide bulletin boards to help spread the word.

Get a flash drive and put some stuff on it.
Also, you can clean up fragmented files (on a PC) by doing a Defrag:
To do this, go to My Computer, Right click on "Local Disk(C:)" and choose "Properties." Under the "Tools" tab, find where it says "Disk Defragmentation" and select "Defragment Now."
This shouldn't do any harm to your computer or files, but might clear up a little extra space for you!
If you have a Mac, I dunno what to tell you…

Follow these steps to do computer maintenance.

    - run Disk Cleanup – from the System Tools section of Accessories
    - Open My Computer, then Right Click on your C drive and pick PROPERTIES. Pick the Tools section and click on CHECK NOW. Check both tests, and YES, let it run after you restart. You see, CHECK DISK will ensure that your hard drive is working completely. This test might take an hour or so.
    - run DEFRAG – from the System Tools section of Accessories.

Keep your anti-virus solution up to date, and run a full scan weekly.

Keep your anti-spyware solution up to date, and run a full scan every few days. I recommend the free SpyBot Search & Destroy that you can get from http://www.download.com

Do all of this regularly, and your computer will run better.

    Good luck and Happy Computing!

I rebuilt my partner's acer aspire after it blew up. She was always complaining it ran too slow. She had everything but the kitchen sink on it. I bought her a new computer and re-built hers, but this time made sure it was lean and mean – no programs I hardly ever used. Still had XP, Dragon naturally speaking, Office 2007, so it had lots of heavy duty programs, just not any unnecessary ones.. It is now lightning fast. My best recommendation is therefore, although a bit drastic, to back up to an external drive all the files and programs you think you may want and then do a clean install. Good article here:

If that's a bit too much for you and you just want a free all in one cleaner I've found Glary Utilities to be the best. Run this regularly and it will certainly speed up your computer, or stop it slowing down further. Download here:
    http://www.glaryutilities.com/gu.html?tag=download
That one does everything the paid for ones do, and the registry cleaner is less aggressive than some of the better known ones.
Also don't forget some anti-virus programs are notorious for slowing the computer down. NTL Net-guard/Virgin PC-guard being one example.
